Le « Gift of Art » est l’exposition annuelle de Noël d’art de la galerie civique de Kanata. Elle a eu lieu le 17 et 18 novembre 2012 dans les salles du Centre Mlacak. Je n’ai pas raté cet événement local depuis qu’elle a commencé il ya 19 ans. Beaucoup des gens locaux viennent, et parce que j’ai vécu à Kanata depuis si longtemps, c’est comme la semaine « old home ». Je discute avec des amis, des voisins et des nouveaux venus pendant les deux jours entiers. Les ventes ont été bonnes, et malgré ma fatigue, j’ai beaucoup aimé cette occasion de montrer mes oeuvres dans un environnement local.

Kanata Civic Art Gallery
As the holiday season rapidly approaches, artists from the Kanata Civic Art Gallery are preparing to bring works of art to the John Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Dr., for this year’s Gift of Art festival and sale. This annual event takes place on Nov. 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Get a jump start on your Christmas shopping as you wander through the show, meeting local artists who would love to chat with you about their work. There will be something for every taste and budget, from traditional watercolours to abstract mixed media, and everything in between. Each artist in their own unique way brings colour and life into their creations. This year’s participants include John Mlacak, who is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists and an Associate member of the Society of Canadian Artists. Mlacak is a full time artist who has been painting for thirty years. He enjoys a steady demand for his work and is recognized for his ability to capture the landscape in strong, vibrant colours.
We are very fortunate to have him join us for this show, as he is currently shipping some of his oil paintings to a gallery in Zagreb, Croatia for a show which will run for the month of December.
